I agree with this response. It’s anger and frustration.Somebody told me, “you’ve Im Not Saying Im Perfect Im Just Saying I Have A Freaking Awesome Wife T shirt indoctrinated to hate the govt from the day you were born, you’ve been made to be a victim!”I don’t feel like a victim, and I don’t hate the govt. but I’ve known the truth about residential school, treaties, the Indian act, the 60s scoop, startlight tours, etc. My whole life. With very little action from govt to reconcile, unless the Supreme Court of Canada says soPeople who are just learning about it now and still don’t understand the frustrations are confusing as hell to me. I don’t know if it’s lack of empathy, fatigue based on their view of history, you know lazy drunken Indians who don’t pay taxes, or if it’s actual hate.Imagine being a marginalized group for generations, and how that would make some of your people feel. The internet doesn’t speak for everyone, just the loud 5% of each group are represented.
This is perhaps one of the more famous Im Not Saying Im Perfect Im Just Saying I Have A Freaking Awesome Wife T shirt. In 1984, upset with the policies of the Reagan Administration, Gregory Lee Johnson doused an American flag with kerosene and set it on fire. No one was hurt, but Johnson was charged and convicted with the “destruction of a venerated object”, in accordance with the Texas Penal Code. This was a clash between American ideals, whether the First Amendment’s right to free speech trumped the burning of the national US symbol, its very own flag. It was a battle of wills that might have ended dead even if not for an odd number of judges. As it turned out, the verdict was the closest it could be.

I kind of do find myself laughing at certain parts of horror movies, especially during parts that are sudden and super gory. Doesn’t necessarily mean that I think something is badly done or that I’m so hard nothing will scare me anymore, but usually comes from imagining the special effects work that goes into those moments of sudden gore. The head explosion scene in Scanners, the chestburster in Alien, the cliff scene in Midsommar, all of these elicited an excited laugh from me while also being seminal examples of well done gore fx work.I’ve Im Not Saying Im Perfect Im Just Saying I Have A Freaking Awesome Wife T shirtfound people do this when watching more extreme/disturbing scenes? Like they think it’s a way of showing it doesn’t get to them or something? But to me it’s much more obvious as a sign that they are really, really struggling and are trying to disassociate.I once went to a tiny private showing of ‘The Lost’ (based on the Jack Ketchum novel) and a dude close to the front row was laughing it up like a loon. I could hear the desperation warbling through his voice. It’s one thing to laugh at schlocky fun, but I think laughing at more serious horror is a sign that someone doesn’t understand the genre, really, or perhaps that it really isn’t for them and they probably shouldn’t consume it. They are not having fun.
Im Not Saying Im Perfect Im Just Saying I Have A Freaking Awesome Wife T shirt is exactly what it sounds like. Guy goes to different worlds to hunt down all sorts of “protagonists” because their cheat powers eventually destabilize those worlds. The twist is that they can’t be killed directly due to literal plot armor, so the MC has to nudge the plot in certain ways to make them vulnerable. It’s a fairly OK series. As far as I know, the translation was dropped. That about sums it up why I don’t like most Isekai. I’m saying this, while admitting I do like me some Villainess manga/manwha, but the protagonists in them usually have more spice than the male ones. Or at least the ones I like. Beware the Villainess is stellar, mostly because Melissa is a great protagonist IMO and the series takes potshots at male love interest tropes I absolutely hate as well as narrative dissonance in writing. On the male lead side of things, Drifters is good, if you have the patience for it. Toyohisa is definitely not bland and the historical references are fun. It also helps that the people who have been isekai’d are not just good or just bad, some doing good for the world, others don’t.
